Twisters Car Club

2017 Car ShowThe Sabetha Twisters Car Club was started as a result of the tornado that hit Sabetha the second weekend in June 1998.  The first show was on June 14, 1999 in downtown Sabetha.  Due to excessive heat from the streets, the club decided to move the show to Sycamore Springs starting with the 6th annual show, so the vehicles could be displayed in the shade.  We continue to hold the show the second Sunday in June in honor of Sabetha’s comeback from the Twister that took out the original City Hall.

The club was started by car enthusiasts who wanted to show their classic vehicles and wanted other people to show their collections as well.  At the same time it was decided that the club would give money back tothe community in the form of donations to local organizations or people in need.  The car club has donated funds towards a 158wheel chair, given money to individuals who were in need and has contributed to the Nemaha County Community Health Services for several years to be used for child immunizations. We also started a $500 scholarship to help graduates of Sabetha High School continue with their education in the automotive mechanical repair industry. It doesn’t matter how much technology is put into a car, you will always need someone to service it and what a better way than to have someone locally perform those tasks.  We raise money for donations through sponsorship of the annual car show, and the sale of the annual car show T-shirts and from donations. The annual car show typically draws around 125 participants from the 4 state area.

Twisters Car Club meets at 7 pm on the third Thursday of each month at the United Bank & Trust building in Sabetha.
